Ghost cycling is dangerous!

Cycling against the permitted direction of travel is dangerous. These cyclists are referred to as "ghost cyclists".

Around one in 10 accidents involving cyclists is a ghost cycling accident.

However, cyclists are often unaware of the danger posed by their own behavior. Particularly dangerous situations arise at junctions and intersections, as cyclists coming from the wrong direction are not expected by road users crossing their path.

Erfurt University of Applied Sciences has taken on this frequent cause of accidents. As part of a research project funded by the National Cycling Plan and the AGFK-Th, a campaign was developed to raise awareness of the dangers of ghost cycling.
