06/2023: AChtsam on the road - extension of the motif series
The traffic climate is an important factor in increasing road safety. Not all situations that are subjectively perceived as unsafe by road users or that objectively prove to be unsafe can be improved solely in terms of infrastructure, i.e. by designing the road space. The human factor contributes significantly to the success of a measure and safe interaction on the roads.
As part of the public relations work on road safety, a series of motifs with personalized means of transport was therefore launched. This will be expanded in line with the needs identified. The motifs are aimed at all road users and promote considerate coexistence on Aachen's roads.
The occasions for the motifs are different, e.g.
- Raising awareness of and communicating new, nationwide uniform rules in road traffic (e.g. minimum overtaking distance between motorists and cyclists, no stopping on hard shoulders),
- new priorities in the transport infrastructure in Aachen (e.g. increased designation of bicycle lanes),
- Experience from international psychological observations (e.g. opening a car door with the right hand).
