05/2021: BMVI: Pact for road safety of the BMVI - Aachen is part of it
On May 4, 2021, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) hosted the 1st National Road Safety Conference in digital form under the motto "Safe mobility - everyone takes responsibility, everyone joins in". As part of the Road Safety Action Plan, the city of Aachen also took part in the conference and joined the pact.
The digital event marked the start of the joint implementation of the "Pact for Road Safety". This kick-off to the next decade of road safety work in Germany was celebrated with key players in road safety work from all over Germany. Among other things, the federal government presented its new road safety program from 2021 and used best practices to show how the associated strategy can be brought to life by the various stakeholders through measures at all levels.
The pact with its twelve fields of action
1) Safe mobility - everyone takes responsibility, everyone participates. (cross-cutting field of action)
2) Mobility of children and young people
3) Safe cycling
4) Safe walking and participation for all
5) Motorcycling - good and safe
6) Learning in the changing world of mobility
7) Future technologies, automation and digitalization
8) Freight transport and logistics
9) Reducing the consequences of accidents
10) Sustainable regulations and ordinances - from speed regulation to road design and vehicle development
11) Improving the traffic climate
12) Promoting and improving existing and effective measures and implementing them across the board.
Offer all road safety stakeholders in Germany a common strategic umbrella.
In the run-up to the event, local authorities were called upon to make a public commitment to the pact and to post a photo as a sign of their voluntary commitment and active participation.
Of course, the City of Aachen has also participated and will continue to follow the activities at national level with great interest and will be happy to get involved.
