Resident protection concept Haaren

The Haaren district is particularly affected by the closure due to its location. To accompany the closure, Autobahn GmbH has had two traffic lights installed on Alt-Haarener Straße (towards the city, just before the A4 highway bridge) and on Haarener Gracht (towards Haaren, just after the A544 highway bridge). The traffic lights are intended to help shift some of the traffic from Haaren to the highway and thus reduce traffic in Haaren itself. A special bus lane was also set up with the installation of the gateway traffic lights on Alt-Haarener Straße. This should significantly speed up bus traffic.

In addition to measures to improve bus traffic, additional measures have been taken around Hüls, Friedensstraße and Bogenstraße to protect the district, particularly during the morning commuter traffic peaks. The resident protection concept aims to reduce slow-moving traffic in residential areas, reduce noise and air pollution and ensure safe footpaths and cycle paths.

The administration's proposals for the resident protection concept can be found in the documents of the Haaren district council (Ö 8). Stage 1 was approved at the meeting of the district council on December 6 and is to be implemented by January 15.

Resident protection concept level 1 since January 15

A change in traffic routing is planned for the following roads: Akazienstraße, Mühlenstraße, Haarbachtalstraße, Tonbrennerstraße, Reuterweg. The protection concept is basically intended to help avoid unnecessary slow-moving traffic in Haaren's residential areas caused by the closure of the A544.

Akazienstraße is now a one-way street from Auf der Hüls in the direction of Haarbachtalstraße. In addition, the passage on Akazienstraße at the level of the Haarbach between Haarbachtalstraße and Tonbrennerstraße has been interrupted by means of barriers. There are therefore two short dead ends on this section of road.

A new one-way street has been set up on Mühlenstraße, from Haarbachtalstraße in the direction of Auf der Hüls.

In Haarbachtalstraße, there is an access road from Alt-Haarener Straße in the direction of Akazienstraße and the Hüls residential area. In the opposite direction, the passage from Haarbachtalstraße to Alt-Haarener-Straße is blocked at the level of a grocery store.

Tonbrennerstraße has become a one-way street from Akazienstraße in the direction of Haarener Gracht. And in the opposite direction, there is a one-way street in Reuterweg from Haarener Gracht to the junction with Akazienstraße.

Cycling is still possible in both directions in all of Haaren's newly created one-way streets in the vicinity of Haarbachtalstraße. The sidewalks in all these streets can be used as usual.
