To support bus traffic towards Haaren and Würselen, a new bus lane has already been set up on Jülicher Straße between Dennewartstraße and the outer ring road. Autobahn GmbH has also had a bus lane marked on the main road between Würselen (Hauptstraße/Oppener Straße/Stolberger Straße junction) and the A4 highway bridge just before the entrance to Haaren.
Additional buses have been deployed on some routes with the ASEAG timetable change on January 15, 2024. Route 52 will be rerouted in both directions when the A544 is fully closed.
ASEAG implemented the first timetable adjustments back in October, particularly in the heavily affected district of Haaren. Since then, the NetLiner and a local bus for Haaren, Verlautenheide and Hüls as well as the SB71 express bus route between Verlautenheide and the University Hospital have been in operation.
Another ASEAG depot will be set up in Würselen-Broichweiden. The buses stationed there will then not be affected by the increased volume of traffic around the closed A544.
Depending on how the traffic situation develops after the closure, ASEAG will make further adjustments to detour and timetables if necessary. ASEAG recommends that its passengers regularly check the website for information.
