Approval of street parties, construction fences, containers and the like in the public street space.
The public road traffic area includes roads, parking lots, sidewalks and pedestrian zones throughout the city.
If you would like to use the public traffic area to erect a construction fence, container or similar for a limited period of time, an informal application stating the period, type of use and location and enclosing any site plans is sufficient. If you have any questions, we will be happy to provide information. We will also be happy to provide you with information on the fees for the use of street space by telephone.
The legal basis for the approval of special uses is the municipal special use statute, which also sets out the fees.
The district offices are responsible for the following cases and for the district of Aachen-Mitte the Department of Safety and Order, Outdoor Services and Special Uses/Major Events:
- Information stands
- Construction fences
- Events such as street festivals
- Container
- Scaffolding
- Portable toilets
- Pedestrian stopper
- Election advertising or election posters
The Urban Development and Traffic Facilities Department, Road Traffic and Special Uses Division is responsible for the following cases throughout the city:
- Street bar
- Contracts for superstructures
- Excavations
- Light wells etc.

Approval of property access roads on public roads
If you want to create an access road to your private property, there are a few things to bear in mind. The basic prerequisite for the driveway is a lowering of the sidewalk towards the road. This must be approved by the Department of Mobility and Traffic, Section 400.
