Roadside parking rates

In designated areas, it is compulsory to buy a parking ticket for parking. There are two different tariff zones in Aachen. The distinction between tariff zones 1 and 2 can be seen on this map.

Current:

Since October 20, 2025, the previous regulations on maximum parking duration have changed. In the city center, the maximum parking time has been extended from 1 hour to four hours. In the BU1 and W zones, parking was previously permitted for a maximum of two hours. This regulation will be abolished once the changeover of the machines has been completed.

During the installation of the new software until mid-November, the new tariff will be adapted on the machines by means of stickers.

The new regulation has been active in the EasyPark app since 20.10.2025.

Regulations

All streets within the Alleenring and on the Alleenring as well as Zollamtstraße, Hackländerstraße, Friedlandstraße and lower Burtscheider Straße belong to tariff zone 1, where parking tickets must be purchased from Monday to Saturday between 9 am and 9 pm. The maximum parking time is 4 hours. The tariff is 3 euros per hour or part thereof. The regulation has been bookable with the EasyPark app since October 20, 2025. The tariff can only be paid at the parking ticket machines once the respective machine has been converted. This should be completed by mid-November 25

All other streets in the city area with resident parking zones belong to tariff zone 2, where parking ticket machines must be used from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 7 pm and on Saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm. However, there are exceptions for the following parking zones and parking spaces, which are displayed on the machines:

• In the residents' parking zones E, K, N, O, T, V and Z, service hours apply from Monday to Saturday until 9 pm.
  
• There is no charge for parking in zone KU on Saturdays.
• Parking at the Vaals-Grenze parking lot is also subject to a charge on Sundays and public holidays.
  

There is no maximum parking time in tariff zone 2. Please note: From Oct. - Nov. 2025, the machines in zones BU1 and W will be adjusted. In these two zones, parking was previously permitted for a maximum of two hours. This regulation will be abolished when the changeover of the machines is completed. The machines will indicate which regulation applies.

The parking tariff is 1 euro for the first 40 minutes ("minimum parking time") and 50 cents for each additional 20 minutes or part thereof. Day tickets are offered in the dark gray resident parking zones in tariff zone II:

• 5 Euro in parking zone East 2
• 6 euros in parking zones E2, BU2, Ost 3 and in the Kleverstraße parking lot in Burtscheid
• 8 euros in parking zones V, U and East 1

In Aachen, drivers can pay the short-term parking tariffs in all residents' parking zones using the EasyPark-App mobile app.

Missing or expired parking ticket?

The obligation to use the parking ticket machine is intensively monitored in Aachen. Violations are subject to a "warning fine". This is at least 20 euros. If a car is found to have been parked for more than 3 hours without a valid parking ticket, the warning fine can increase to 40 euros according to the catalog of fines.
