We offer courses in various areas of music theory:

  • Music theory - more than just gray theory!
  • Harmony and aural training (part of the "Study Preparation Program [SVA]")

The introductory courses are aimed at interested amateurs, e.g. choir singers or hobby instrumentalists of all ages and interested middle and high school students to supplement instrumental/vocal lessons.

The course is tailored to the wishes and interests of the participants and also covers the following topics:

  • the circle of fifths
  • Scales (major, minor, etc.)
  • Modes (church modes)
  • Triad structure
  • old keys
  • Introduction to ear training: recognizing and notating intervals, triads and easy melodies
  • Simple chord combinations (cadences) are then written and played.

Harmony / aural training (SVA / "How music works - Course II")

The aim of the courses is to prepare students for studying music.
The entrance examinations at universities generally include examinations in harmony, aural skills and general music theory.
Depending on the degree course, university and instrument, the entrance examinations may include other areas of specialization (counterpoint, practical piano playing at school, music history, etc.).
These are not covered in the course and can be attended at preparatory courses at the universities if necessary.
