Orientation year for children aged 6 and over
Which instrument should I learn?
The number of musical instruments is large - and almost all of them can be learned at the music school. Anyone who wants to play an instrument often asks themselves these questions in view of the variety:
- Which instrument suits me?
- What musical styles is an instrument suitable for and how does it match my musical interests?
- And how can I use it to make music together with others, for which ensembles is it suitable?
The choice of instrument is therefore a very individual decision - and sometimes not an easy one to make.
The "Instrument Discoverers" offer comprehensive assistance in choosing the "right" instrument. At the same time, this course offers a structured transition from the elementary music course to instrumental lessons and thus forms an important building block on the way to independent music-making.
The "discovery year": "exploration tour" and "instrument lab"
The "Instrument Explorers" take place as a one-year orientation course. This orientation year is divided into an "exploration tour" in the form of an instrument carousel and an "instrument laboratory", in which the children can learn the basics of their chosen instrument. The children are given an instrument to borrow for the instrument lab.
The courses start in October and end in September of the following year.
Ensemble playing
Making music together is not only very motivating, but also an important skill that is learned at the music school. That's why all the Explorer children in the instrument lab play together in an ensemble after just a few weeks.
"Instrument foxes" and "instrument wolves
A distinction is made between instruments that can be learned from the first year of primary school and wind instruments, which can generally only be played from the age of 7 due to the necessary physical requirements. In order to divide the children into sensible learning groups, "Foxes" and "Wolves" are aimed at different age groups.
