Saxophone

The saxophone impresses with its wide range of expression and its many possible uses: from the different eras of jazz to pop, Latin, rock and soul music. Invented around 1840 by the Belgian Adolphe Sax, original compositions and transcriptions of almost every stylistic epoch can be found in the field of classical music.

Berlioz schreibt in seiner Instrumentationslehre: „Diese dem Orchester neugewonnenen Stimmen haben seltene und wertvolle Eigenschaften. Sie sind sanft und doch durchdringend in der Höhe, voll und markig in der Tiefe, höchst ausdrucksvoll in der Mittellage, (...)“.
