For 63 years, Jugend musiziert has been the most important competition for young musicians in Germany. With the 2026 edition, this role is also impressively confirmed in the Aachen region: with over 180 registrations, this year's regional competition has a record number of participants that has not been achieved for many years.
Young musicians from the city and city region of Aachen as well as from the districts of Düren and Heinsberg will take part in the regional competition, which will be held on January 31 and February 1, 2026 in the music school of the city of Aachen.
This year's competition includes the solo categories piano, voice, harp, guitar (pop) and drum set (pop) as well as the ensemble categories string and wind chamber music, accordion ensemble and special instrumentation for new music.
