The trumpet is probably the most popular brass instrument. Since the Baroque era (natural trumpet), it has been represented throughout all eras and styles in classical orchestral music (as a soloist or in a brass section), in chamber music and today in jazz, pop, film music and in wind orchestras.
Popular in its capacity as a heroic and radiant sound element in symphonies and solo concertos from Bach to Shostakovich, the trumpet is used today in every big band and in many jazz bands.
