The adult education center and the city library jointly design the content of the building's spaces as users.

The VHS and City Library will continue to offer their proven expertise and, as usual, remain agile and flexible in their approach to current social issues and trends. In addition, there will be many formats in which the VHS and City Library offerings complement each other or are designed jointly. Links with cooperation partners from the fields of education and culture are conceivable and desirable. However, these partners can also contribute their own offers.
The second floor offers plenty of space for children, young people and families to play. A spacious creative area with music room, instrument rental and workbenches is located here. The second floor houses seminar and specialist rooms, a teaching kitchen, gym, library area, reading corner, public workspaces and offices. The third floor is primarily designed for concentrated work. An art library is also planned for the fourth floor, where works of art can be borrowed.
Independent of the VHS and city library, but not to be forgotten: Two stages on the first floor with a choice of one hundred or more seats are also included. There will be a café on the first floor that opens up to the urban space towards Komphausbadstraße and a café on the top level with a panoramic view of the cathedral and town hall.

How much space do the VHS and city library have compared to their previous buildings?
The House of Curiosity will provide around 14,500 m² for both institutions together. That is 2,000 m² more than before.
Can students or pupils learn there?
In Aachen, there is a high demand for consumer-free and attractive spaces for learning alone or in groups. The city library is already a popular place of learning for pupils and students. It is therefore also planned for the Haus der Neugier to offer many flexible options for different self-learning needs.
What opening hours are planned?
The open concept of the building provides for the services of the VHS and the city library to merge seamlessly - this also includes uniform opening hours for the entire Haus der Neugier. As a third location, the Haus der Neugier will offer the most generous opening hours possible.
Is the entire building used by the VHS and the city library?
Rooms and an event area can also be used by third parties. The details are still being developed. Areas will also be leased to café operators and separate areas on the first floor to a local retailer.
