Fishing

The activities of a lower fisheries authority serve to enforce the obligation to maintain the waters regulated in the State Fisheries Act, the appropriate organization of fishing districts, the determination of conditions for fishing leases, the enforcement of the proper conduct of fishing, the implementation of fishermen's examinations and the supervision of fishing cooperatives. The fishing cooperatives pass on the tasks relating to the duty of care to authorized fishermen. In Aachen, there are fishing licensees for the Inde, Iter, Wurm, Haarbach, Wildbach, Beverbach, Amstelbach and Senserbach rivers. In addition, the municipal reservoir/pond facilities Diepenbenden, Kupferbach, Hangeweiher, Kaletzbenden, Schloss-Schönau, Westpark and private pond facilities in Hitfeld and Horbach are leased to fishing clubs.
