Liquid manure is a valuable fertilizer that contains all the nutrients that are important for plants. The nutrients must be applied in such a way that they are available when the plants need them. At the same time, the soil must be able to absorb the liquid manure. In principle, liquid manure may not be spread on agricultural land within a legally stipulated restriction period.
The competent authority decides whether the export of liquid manure to agricultural land is proper or complies with the Fertilizer Ordinance.
A temporary odor nuisance associated with the application is unavoidable and therefore often a reason for complaint. However, the legislator has not issued any regulations or bans that prohibit this short-term odor nuisance. The competent authorities therefore have no possibility of prohibiting it.
