We firmly believe that there is nothing more effective than learning from each other. Your projects and good ideas are there to be shared. That way, even more people can benefit from them. For this reason, we hold a networking meeting once a year.
This year, we are inviting you to our special networking format "Pimp My Future".
Experience politics up close - "Pimp My Future" for young people!
We are pleased to present the following offer to you: A three-day future workshop (simulation game) for young people from the 8th grade onwards, which brings politics and sustainability to life in an exciting way.
Pimp My Future - Young people shape their future!
Under the motto "Pimp My Future!", we invite your students to the Nadelfabrik from November 6 to 8, 2024 to experience the complex world of sustainability and local politics up close. Organized by the independent, non-partisan and non-profit association "Politik zum Anfassen e.V." and sponsored by the City of Aachen, this future workshop offers a unique learning experience.
Active participation and practical education
Together with local experts and members of the city council, the pupils develop concrete, practicable proposals for their school and Aachen as a whole. In the process, they gain valuable insights into local politics and learn how democratic processes work.
Three sustainability teams and one editorial team
- Sustainability teams: In entertaining crash courses, the pupils gain in-depth knowledge about local politics and sustainability. They then develop their own ideas and proposals, which are discussed and voted on in a large plenary session. Experts and politicians are on hand to help them strengthen their arguments and win majorities.
- Editorial team: At the same time, another team creates a media concept under professional guidance. The students conduct interviews, film and take photographs in order to document the simulation game comprehensively. The result is a film, a photo series and a magazine that records the events and results of the simulation game.
"Council meeting" in the Coronation Hall
The event ends on day 3 with a joint public "council meeting" in the Coronation Hall in Aachen Town Hall, where the young people discuss and vote on their proposals.
Long-term effect and follow-up
All results of the simulation game will be made available to local politicians and the participating schools. In spring/summer 2025, we are planning a follow-up session in which the pupils can review the status of their submitted applications and reflect on their experiences.
Free participation
The project is aimed at students from all types of schools between the 8th and 13th grades. Participation is free of charge for pupils and accompanying teachers.
