The Senior Citizens' Council (formerly the "Seniors' Council") of the City of Aachen has been in existence for over 40 years. This means that the city recognized very early on that older residents must be given sufficient consideration by the administration, politicians and other institutions and need their own "lobby" for this.
The Senior Citizens' Council represents Aachen's senior citizens as a link to a wide range of institutions. Around 30% of senior citizens eligible to vote took part in the 2022 Senior Citizens' Council elections. We would like to report on the work of your senior citizens' councils here.
With our web presence on aachen.de, we want to provide information and transparency. We not only report on our work, but also see ourselves as your information platform for many current topics relating to ageing in Aachen.
Don't feel like a senior citizen yet? For Aachen, the age of 60+ has been defined as the age at which you belong to the group of senior citizens. From this age, you can stand as a candidate for the Senior Citizens' Council and vote for the Senior Citizens' Council. Elections are held regularly every 5 years.
It is important to recognize that we can continue to make an important contribution to society in old age - regardless of whether we fit the classification of "senior citizen".
We want to be an initiator and multiplier for this. Help us and talk to us!
Finally, some more information:
We all work on a voluntary basis for 60plus interests. For this reason, we would like to thank the city for integrating our website into their website. We ask for your understanding that the content can only be added gradually. So please keep checking our pages:
