Welcome to the Seniors' Council on behalf of my deputies Dagmar Bach, Rolf Winkler and the entire extended Board. We had a lot planned for 2023, the first full year of the new Seniors' Council, and worked on the following key topics:
- Loneliness
- Mobility
- Living
Many districts in Aachen then derived their own local activities from this. However, these topics are also "eternal topics", i.e. they will remain with us in 2024 - supplemented by new activities. You can read about what we have tackled and perhaps already achieved in our 2023 report.
Our mission as a municipal body is to represent the group of Aachen residents aged 60 and over. Nevertheless, we also look "beyond the age limit" and focus on the perceived needs of future senior citizens. These needs may differ significantly from those of current senior citizens.
Last but not least, we also want to provide first-class support to people who are often referred to in marketing as the "secondary target group". This group includes, for example, children or grandchildren who care for their parents or grandparents.
The city of Aachen is not perfect for senior citizens either. However, in order to identify and address the most important problems, we also need your cooperation. Please feel free to contact the districts responsible for you, the Executive Board or the contact persons in the "Ageing in Aachen" control center of the City of Aachen. We will take care of you.
