Municipal Integration Center

The Aachen Municipal Integration Center (KI) was founded in 2012 on the basis of the Participation and Integration Act. There are currently only municipal integration centers in NRW - at a total of 54 locations. The KI team is interdisciplinary and multilingual. The mission of the KI is to sensitize and qualify institutions of the regular system in the municipality with regard to the integration of people with a history of immigration by providing coordination, advice and support services.

The Municipal Integration Center of the City of Aachen carries out its work within the three teams "Integration through Education", "Integration in Cross-Section" and "Municipal Integration Management": Raising awareness and qualifying people in dealing with diversity as well as promoting equal rights and social participation for Aachen residents with a history of immigration.

Integration through education

The municipal integration centers help to improve the educational opportunities of children and young people with a migrant background. They are geared towards the education chain from early education to elementary education, school and extracurricular child and youth work through to the transition from school to vocational training, studies or a profession.

Work, clubs, voluntary work, politics, neighborhoods: We promote integration in all areas of life and thus help shape the city's integration work. Among other things, we provide advice and support:

Municipal integration management

The introduction of KIM is intended to promote the coordination of cross-jurisdictional cooperation in the municipalities in the sense of an organizational development process. The aim is to comprehensively structure and organize all tasks that arise in the context of integrating people with a history of immigration or a refugee background on a city-wide basis. This means that the pure "integration administration" will develop into a coordinated and smooth "integration management".
