The people in Ukraine need help, as do the many people who have fled. Here, the City of Aachen is collecting information on voluntary initiatives that already exist or new civic initiatives that are being set up to help the people in Ukraine.

Culture helps culture
Culture professionals and culture lovers support refugees from Ukraine: In order to provide relief and financial security for artists who have fled Ukraine as a result of the war, the Kulturrat NRW has launched the "Culture Helps Culture" campaign. The associations and members of the Kulturrat NRW arrange living and working spaces, performance opportunities, artistic collaborations and training opportunities. New employment opportunities for artists, new projects, scholarships and more are considered. The Ministry of Culture supports the measures and the office of the Kulturrat NRW with appropriate resources. As a first unbureaucratic immediate measure, the Ministry is initially providing 100,000 euros for this purpose.

Sports activities for refugees
Many Aachen sports clubs open their facilities to refugees. If you know or accompany refugees who are looking for a sports offer or would like to open up offers yourself as a club, please contact the Sports Department of the City of Aachen or the Stadtsportbund e.V. (City Sports Association).

The app "Sportwörterbuch - Begriffe aus dem Sportalltag" ("Sports dictionary - terms from everyday sports life"), which translates terms quickly and easily into nine languages (including Ukrainian), provides linguistic support during the initial period in the new sports club.
