Future - New impetus for Aachen North

The conversion of the former streetcar depot into a district center offering a wide range of social and cultural activities is the flagship project of the "Socially Integrative City Aachen North" program. The City of Aachen's culture department opened the "Depot" at the beginning of 2017.
The building and its new users were presented to the public at the official opening ceremony on 10.02.2017 and the street festival in Talstraße on 24.09.2017.
Since then, an open house has been created in the old workshop, in which tenants work together to develop a flexible, lively and diverse offering for the city's residents. The tenants and users, together with the cultural enterprise, want to bring people together in a new combination of social offerings, artistic and creative thinking and scientific and technical knowledge in the special atmosphere of the depot. By crossing the usual boundaries between the different users from the individual areas, we would like to introduce you to new ideas and interdisciplinary projects that offer special potential - both a challenge and an adventure. The traditional separation of culture, social activities and science in the past meant that this diversity could not be realized.
The central new event location, the piazza at the heart of the depot, provides space for events with up to 1,000 people. The large piazza is multifunctional and offers space for unusual programs in addition to conventional events. We are thus closing a gap in the events on offer in the city of Aachen.
The target group is not only young people and students, but also adults who are open to new formats. You can hold seminars, training courses, readings and many other events in an undisturbed atmosphere in other adjoining rooms.
