History: The old streetcar depot

In 1925, the Aachener Straßenbahn- und Energieversorgungs-Aktiengesellschaft (ASEAG) built a streetcar depot in Talstraße. The streetcars were housed on nine tracks and two floors, which was a special feature at the time. The basement was used for bus transportation. The two-storey design of the facilities in Talstrasse and Oberstrasse resulted from the height of the streets they touched. The new development in Talstraße was the second new development alongside the buildings in Oberstraße and Adalbertsteinweg.

In 1974, streetcar operations in Aachen were discontinued and the depot was abandoned in day-to-day operations before it was finally moved out in 1977. From 1982, it also served the Aachen Carnival Committee (AAK) as a depot for the carnival floats used in the carnival processions.
