Child protection coordination office
The City of Aachen's Child Protection Coordination Office is the point of contact for anyone who comes into contact with the topic of child protection. This includes
- Employees of the children, youth and school department
- Professionals in schools, day-care centers, youth welfare facilities, etc.
- (Voluntary) employees in clubs and associations
Child protection network coordination
The Child Protection Network Coordination coordinates and supports the Child Protection Network in the performance of its tasks. In addition, it manages interdisciplinary training courses as required to ensure that the network fulfills its duty to protect children in cases of child endangerment.
Institutional Child Protection Unit
The City of Aachen's Institutional Child Protection Unit is committed to ensuring that children are protected from abuse, neglect and forms of violence in various institutions such as schools, daycare centers, children's homes, hospitals and other facilities. In addition to preventive child protection, effective measures are created to adequately monitor and deal with cases of child endangerment or suspected child endangerment within institutions.
Expert advice
The staff at the specialist unit are available to answer institutions' questions about child protection and offer
- Expert advice on the assessment of child endangerment in accordance with Section 8b SGB VIII
- Support with the implementation of protective measures
- Expert advice and support in the development of protection concepts
- Further development of child protection standards
Qualification
The Child Protection Coordination Office offers:
- Training courses and workshops for employees in institutions to sensitize them to signs of (sexual) violence, convey strategies for prevention and support the implementation of protective measures
- Qualification of professionals and teams to deal professionally with (sexual) violence in their institution/work area
- Development of uniform standards in child protection
- Support in the development of institutional protection concepts
Committee work
The employees of the Child Protection Coordination Office lead working groups and take part in interdisciplinary working groups and quality circles. In this way, they ensure the transfer of information between the agencies involved in child protection.
