Visiting service for parents of newborns

Small baby hands holding the hands of a parent.

Congratulations!
The City of Aachen congratulates new parents on their new arrival and warmly welcomes the newborn. Two social workers from the City of Aachen's visiting service for parents of newborns visit the parents, welcome the babies and present the families with the baby welcome package. This package contains gifts, vouchers and important information for young families. The visiting service is aimed at all families with newborn babies in Aachen.

Having a baby is wonderful.
At the same time, being a parent means round-the-clock responsibility, and parents are often pushed to their limits.

  • Perhaps they are exhausted and need relief?
  • Perhaps they first have to grow into their new role as parents and feel insecure?
  • Perhaps you are a single parent and therefore particularly challenged?
  • Perhaps they don't know what support options are available for families in Aachen?
  • Perhaps they have not lived in our city for long and have not yet been able to make many contacts?
  • Perhaps they are worried about childcare?
  • Maybe ...?

The "Visiting service for parents of newborns" is available to answer all these questions, because the city of Aachen wants to offer families support right from the start. You should feel that you and your child and children are in good hands in our city and find support when you need it. If necessary, the visiting service will also find the right support service for you and offer to accompany you to it.

The visiting service is a voluntary offer within the early help services of the Youth and School Department of the City of Aachen. The aim is to support families in this special phase of life and provide guidance. Shortly after the birth of a child, parents receive a letter of congratulations from the Lord Mayor with information about the visiting service. For the first child in the family, a visit is suggested directly, while parents who already have children can contact the service themselves if they are interested. Alternatively, the welcome pack is available for collection from the Visiting Service office in Mozartstraße by appointment - with or without a consultation.

Expectant parents can contact the visiting service for parents of newborns before the birth if they have any questions or are interested in vouchers for the free course "Fit in First Aid for Babies".
